Franciscan Children’s Announces New Chief Nursing Officer
Liz Smith, RN, promoted to executive role; will also serve as VP of Patient Care Services
2020欧洲杯赛事 (Boston – July 1, 2020) - Franciscan Children’s, a leading provider of complex pediatric medical and mental health care and educational services, announces today that Liz Smith, RN, has been promoted to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Vice President of Patient Care Services.

2020欧洲杯赛事As CNO and VP of Patient Care Services, Smith is responsible for overseeing the delivery of family-based, personalized, compassionate care to all children who visit Franciscan Children’s. She will direct the strategic and operational goals of nursing and patient care services, developing and enhancing programs and services that address the quality and safety of patient care and that enrich the patient experience by focusing on the relationship with patients and their families; she’ll also oversee staff development initiatives.

2020欧洲杯赛事“Liz first came to Franciscan Children’s more than 20 years ago as a volunteer and we are tremendously grateful that her career path led her back to us, where she is now a mentor to so many of her fellow nurses. She will represent the patient care perspective in all she does, ensuring that we continue to provide innovative and high-quality services to our patients and families,” said John D. Nash, President and CEO. “Liz will also play a key role in identifying opportunities for new service lines and clinical programs that will support our growth.”

Smith joined Franciscan Children’s as Manager of Surgical Services in 2015 and was later promoted to Senior Director of Nursing; she returned to the Boston area after serving in the Pediatric ICU at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in Richmond, Va. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University and a Master’s in Business and Health Administration from Boston University.
Smith currently resides in Lowell, Mass., with her adopted daughter Gisele, who turns four this July. Their story was widely shared in 2019 when she adopted Gisele after meeting her when she was a patient at Franciscan Children’s.

Local Author in Finals of Charity Talent Competition

2020欧洲杯赛事My name is Ashley Amber and I've made the finals of a charity talent competition called Voices That Give.

2020欧洲杯赛事This competition started with 1,500 contestants and I've made the Top 10, a pretty big accomplishment for this local girl from Boston.

Voices That Give is like America's Got Talent meets Kickstarter, with the end goal being to help make dreams come true and raise money for charity.

2020欧洲杯赛事Voices That Give is hosted by Hallmark Channel star Jen Lilley and is working with organization Project Orphans to raise money to build a village here in America for orphaned and foster children who need good homes.

2020欧洲杯赛事During the COVID-19 pandemic, hospital visits resulting from severe child abuse and domestic violence spiked over 1000%. Proceeds from this competition can help these children.

I've entered this talent competition as an aspiring author. If I win, I'll get the help I need to publish my book series, national media coverage and more.

While everyone gets one free vote, additional votes can be purchased for $1 each and 100% of the competition's proceeds will be donated to help build this village. It's an incredible opportunity as a creator and if I'm able to launch my career while also helping a charity, that is how I want my career to begin.

Personally, winning would make my over a decade of writing all worth it. I believe so much in my book series and winning would help me gain the exposure it deserves. I would love the chance to share this story with the world and help pave the way for more diverse characters in fiction.

My entry can be found here:

I'm currently in 5th place and need to be 1st by July 11th to win the grand prize.

As a reminder, you must confirm your email after you vote or your vote won't count.

2020欧洲杯赛事Thank you for reading and I hope to shed more light on this incredible cause and get some hometown support!

2020欧洲杯赛事The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN) announced that Lynn Margherio, Founder and CEO of Cradles to Crayons, has been selected as a finalist for the 2020 Nonprofit Excellence Award in the Leadership category.

The winners of the Nonprofit Excellence Awards will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony, Nonprofit Awareness Day: A Celebration of Nonprofit Excellence on Wednesday, June 24 at 10:00 am. The awards ceremony is presented by Citizens Bank.

"We are thrilled to recognize Lynn for her invaluable contributions to the Commonwealth," said Jim Klocke, CEO of MNN. "We look forward to recognizing these organizations and the other award finalists on Nonprofit Awareness Day on June 24."

2020欧洲杯赛事"It is such an honor to be included in this incredible group of individual and organizational nominees doing critical, mission-driven work,” said Margherio. “The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network is a vital resource to us and our nonprofit colleagues across the Commonwealth. Thank you for this opportunity to be recognized for our work mitigating Clothing Insecurity throughout the state—as well as in Chicago and Philadelphia. The need for basic essentials is a devastating and hidden crisis faced by tens of millions of children nationwide."

The Nonprofit Excellence Award in the Leadership category recognizes a nonprofit senior executive whose strategic vision, passion, ethical integrity, innovation, and collaborative style have led to a strong record of extraordinary results and has helped to guide their organization.

Margherio is being recognized for successfully leading the organization through three capital campaigns, and for expanding the organization's footprint to provide more than 300,000 children across Massachusetts and the country with essential items every year.

2020欧洲杯赛事In addition to Margherio, Denella Clark of the Boston Arts Academy Foundation, Jay Linnehan of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation, Mary Beth McMahon of Special Olympics Massachusetts, and Vincent Strully of the New England Center for Children were also named finalists for the Nonprofit Excellence Award in Leadership.

During the virtual Nonprofit Awareness Day on June 24, Nonprofit Excellence Awards will be presented to one finalist in each of the following six categories: Advocacy, Collaboration, Innovation, Leadership, Small Nonprofit, and Young Professional.

This year, an independent panel of judges reviewed over 130 nominations for the Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The 27 finalists range from large education providers to small arts organizations, and represent different regions of Massachusetts.

In the weeks leading up to Nonprofit Awareness Day, nonprofits across the state are engaging in a social media campaign with the hashtag #MAkingadifference to raise public awareness of nonprofits’ important contributions to Massachusetts.
